jjjjjjonathan asked: Haven't seen any tips lately, I miss reading them, even though I'm not a frosh. :) Here's another one for you.

Say no to peer pressure. You don't need to drink, or do drugs, or anything you don't want to. You will be accepted by others still.

Sorry for going awol.

Good submission :)

moonflowergirl asked: how do you join a sorority at western?

After O-Week, the fraternities and sororities have this thing called “Rush Week” - that’s when you can learn more about the different sororities, and be “rushed”. The sororities “bid” on you, and if you get a bid from a sorority, you can join it.

If that’s wrong, please someone let me know! :)

56. Ask questions in class. It helps the profs know who you are, and that way, when you ask for help, they are generally very nice.

55. Lions Den U is a hilarious website that you might want to check out in your spare time. Here’s a link to one of my favourite articles :)

54. Don’t necessarily just drop your high school sweetheart because you will now be in a more highly populated sea. Think it through.

Anonymous asked: Is U of T really as vicious with grades as they are rumoured to be?

I don’t go there, so I can’t give you a definite answer, but I’ve heard the same rumours as you have if that helps. And most of my friends at UofT have experienced similar things.

53. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Just do it.

52. Professors aren’t trying to fail you. They are people too and they’ve been through everything you’re going to experience in university.

Anonymous asked: Yo I totally agree with you guys... Rewd is terrible!!! I just wanted to let you know that your replies to those 2 posts were AMAZING.

Thanks for your support :) Tell all your friends (and frosh) about FroshTips!

51. Get involved early! You’ll think that first year is all about making friends and learning the ropes, and while it definitely is, if you don’t be proactive about getting involved, you’ll kick yourself at the end of first year when you realize you haven’t accomplished anything other than get mediocre grades.

Usually I re-word what people post in the submission box - but this is perfect.

50. You’ll never forget your O-Week!

Anonymous asked: What are the sororities at Western like? Do they haze?

I’m pretty sure it depends on the sorority - but they’re pretty good about keeping their secrets, well, secret.

Anonymous asked: FYI, Rewd.ca isn't a "rumour mill". If you checked out the site you would realize that Rewd.ca consists of University Exclusives that campus media WILL NOT post, Top Student Tweets of the Week, University Hotties of the Week, Reviews, Dirty Laundry Column, Nail'd It Column, Sports, Rants, Music and more. But, nice job on this frosh tips tumblr, it's looking good.

Thanks for the explanation, Ryan Durgy.

Anonymous asked: What's the problem with Rewd.ca?

It’s essentially a semi-glorified rumour mill. Good for entertainment value, but I wouldn’t trust what you read.

Anonymous asked: In regard to tip number 5, what exactly is a roommate contract?

A roommate contract is something you and your roommate come up with that basically establishes boundaries. For example, you might agree that lights go out at a certain time at night, or that suspicious activities between a roommate and their significant other not occur while the other roommate is in the room, or if someone feels strongly, not in the room at all. You might want to include advanced notice for having guests stay over too. Things like that.
